Luck of the draw. That was my answer when someone asked me why I wanted to become a chef. To be able to create something in the kitchen, to play with flavors, textures, colors and aromas is to make memories. That gives me the inspiration to create unique moments and be part of something we all have in common: food. I was born in New York City in the 80’s to immigrant parents from Israel. As a first generation American-Israeli I have developed a unique way of seeing Mediterranean food, borrowing from many cultures to bring you my view of the Mediterranean. I studied hospitality in Las Vegas, I knew I wanted to be on the floor with my guests. After several years of working on the management side in some of the most established restaurants in NYC I decided to open my own. My partners and I opened Mezetto in 2012. Months into my new venture life intentionally threw me between pots and pans. The desire to express myself was the key. Subconsciously, dreams come true. Finally after 3 years with a lot of support from our fans I am happy to announce that we’ve imparted our love for food and Mediterranean cuisine into cooking classes, Private Chef Services and event catering. The interest in food has become a passion for many and for me is a pleasure to show how amazing, colorful, delicious and unexpected Mediterranean cuisine is.
